GAF Timberline HDZ Shingle Roofs, Built for Ozarks Weather

Every standard asphalt roof we install starts with GAF Timberline HDZ, GAF's best-selling architectural shingle. We chose it on purpose. Roofs in Springfield, Nixa, and the rest of Southwest Missouri take hail and straight-line wind almost every spring, and Timberline HDZ gives homeowners proven impact and wind protection as our starting point, not as an upgrade.

Why Timberline HDZ Is Our Standard Shingle

• Class 3 impact rating. Timberline HDZ passes the UL 2218 impact test at Class 3, the laboratory test that drops steel balls on the shingle to simulate hail.
• 130 mph wind warranty. Installed with GAF's special installation method, Timberline HDZ carries wind coverage up to 130 mph, well above what a standard 3-tab shingle is built for.
• LayerLock technology. The shingle layers are fused together at the nailing area for a stronger hold on the roof deck.
• StrikeZone nailing area. An extra-wide nailing target helps every nail land where it should, which is where wind resistance starts.
• StainGuard Plus algae protection. Resists the black streaks caused by algae that are common on Ozarks roofs.
• Class A fire rating. The highest fire-resistance classification for roofing.
• Color options. Available in a wide range of colors to match your home.

How We Install It

A shingle is only as good as the system under it. Every Timberline HDZ roof we install includes GAF starter strip at the eaves and rakes, GAF ridge cap shingles, synthetic underlayment, ice and water barrier where the building code requires it, new drip edge, new flashings, and balanced ventilation. When the job is finished you receive a certificate of completion with photos of each of these components before they were covered.

Class 4 impact-resistant shingles. For homeowners who want the highest UL 2218 impact rating, we offer Class 4 shingle upgrades. Some insurance companies offer premium discounts for Class 4 roofs, so ask your agent what your policy offers.

GAF WindProven Limited Wind Warranty. When Timberline HDZ shingles with LayerLock are installed and registered with qualifying GAF accessories, the roof can qualify for GAF's WindProven warranty, which carries no maximum wind speed. Ask us whether your roof qualifies.

About Hail and Your Insurance

Impact ratings come from controlled laboratory testing. No shingle is hail-proof, and hail damage is not covered by the GAF shingle warranty. Hail and wind damage is handled through your homeowner's insurance policy. If a storm hits, call us for a free inspection and we will document the damage for your claim.
